男,现任中国科学院地理科学与资源研究所二级研究员、博士生导师、生态环境信息学研究室主任、中国科学院大学生态环境信息学首席教授、中国科学院特聘核心岗位研究员。国家杰出青年基金获得者,享受国务院政府特殊津贴。
目前,兼任国际标准化组织(ISO/IEC)工作组专家、中国环境科学学会生态环境模型专业委员会主任、中国生态学会生态模型专业委员会主任、中国地理学会地学计算与系统模拟工作组组长、《地理科学》副主编以及《Science China Earth Sciences》、《Journal of Geographical Sciences》、《中国科学-地球科学》、《地球信息科学学报》和《生态学报》等国内外重要期刊编委。
任联合国千年生态系统评估(MA)报告(2005年向全球发布)主导作者、联合国生物多样性和生态系统服务政府间科学政策平台(IPBES)情景与模型方法评估报告(2016年向全球发布)主导作者、联合国IPBES全球评估报告(2019年向全球发布)主导作者和联合国IPBES生物多样性、水、食物和健康互联评估(2024年向全球发布)主导作者。

科研业绩:在全面总结分析经典曲面建模方法的理论缺陷和克服这些理论缺陷的现代数学理论的基础上,将地球表层系统及其环境要素的栅格化描述抽象为数学“曲面”,并以曲面论、系统论和控制论为基础,开创性地建立了高精度曲面建模(HASM)方法,提出了面向传统计算机的预处理共轭梯度法、自适应法、多重网格法和并行算法以及面向量子计算机的量子机器学习算法,有效地解决了半个世纪以来困扰曲面建模的误差问题、多尺度问题、非线性问题和运算速度慢问题。在高精度曲面建模方法和理论发展及其广泛应用过程中,提炼形成了地球表层系统建模基本定理和生态环境曲面建模基本定理及其关于空间插值、尺度转换、数据融合和模型-数据同化的推论和算法,为生态环境信息学发展奠定了方法和理论基础。
HASM方法被国家卫星气象中心等部门采用,支撑中国碳卫星大气二氧化碳观测数据高精度、高时效处理分析;归纳有关成果形成了《地表碳核查技术规程》国家标准,有助于我国实现“双碳”战略目标。地球表层系统建模基本定理被联合国《生物多样性与生态系统服务全球评估报告》采用,生态环境曲面建模基本定理有关推论被纳入联合国《生物多样性和生态系统服务情景与模型》指导性文件,量子机器学习方法被联合国《IPBES生物多样性、水、食物和健康互联评估》报告采纳,对我国在联合国“生物多样性与生态系统服务政府间科学-政策平台”领域的潜在话语权具有重要意义。有关成果得到了国际生态学会前主席Haber教授和国际生态建模学会前主席Joergensen教授等同行的高度评价。
在国内外学术刊物上发表学术论文300余篇(第一作者100余篇),其中SCI/SSCI检索论文120余篇(第一作者40余篇);出版中外文专著10余部;获得发明专利10项;主持完成了《地表碳核查技术规程》国家标准1项。
