Alfred Stein教授是荷兰ITC(Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation)的副校长，地球观测科学系主任(Department of Earth Observation Science), 国际期刊杂志International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation的主编。长期从事地理数据空间分析方法的研究。主要研究兴趣包括空间统计和影像挖掘（Spatial Statistics and Image Mining），空间数据质量(Spatial Data Quality) ，以及农业，城市和环境等领域方面的应用研究工作。
