报告人及报告简介:

Prof. Sergey Chalov is Head of Scientific Research Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Riverbed Processes named after N.I. Makkaveev and Professor of the Department of Land Hydrology at Lomonosov Moscow State University. Also, Sergey Chalov is President of the International Commission on Continental Erosion of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (ICCE-IAHS). His research focuses on river sediments, riverbed processes, sediment runoff, soil erosion and relates to a variety of water bodies including river deltas. He has received multiple academic awards and has authored influential work on sediment dynamics in northern Eurasia.

In this talk, Prof. Sergey Chalov will addresses the needs for integrated studies of riverbank erosion as a key driver of sediment transport across largest catchments of Northern Eurasia. He will present a comprehensive dataset of riverbank migration estimates obtained using a variety of measurement techniques, both field-based and remote sensing data which comprises information from twelve extensive river basins in Northern Eurasia. The particular focus of his talks is related to possible drivers of riverbank migration, encompassing both hydrological and catchment factors like permafrost, natural land zones, and geology, as well as channel patterns morphology.
