男,加拿大大不列颠哥哥伦比亚大学博士,中国科学院地理科学与资源研究所研究员、博士生导师,中国科学院大学陆面生态模型与分析首席教授,兼任生态环境部碳监测评估试点技术委员会委员,曾任中国国家气象局温室气体及碳中和监测评估中心首席科学家。曾就职于加拿大多伦多大学(University of Toronto)、大不列颠哥伦比亚大学(University of British Columbia)和昆特兰理工大学(Kwantlen Polytechnic University)(教授),2009年入选中国科学院“杰出人才类计划类计划”回国。获自然资源部自然资源科技进步奖二等奖1项(2023,排名第1/5)、生态环境部环境保护技术进步奖二等奖1项(2019,排名第6/7);曾获中国地理学会第三届青年地理科技奖(1995)、江苏省优秀青年骨干教师(1996)、入选省“333高层次人才培养工程”中青年科学技术带头人(1998)、入选年江苏省委“双创计划”之“创新类人才”和“创新类团队”(2014);曾获国际工程学会优秀研究生IET奖和加拿大NSERC的CGS奖学金(国家最高研究生奖学金)等20余项个人学术奖项。
在环境考古、古生态学领域,上世纪90年发现了距今8000年前的河南贾湖栽培水稻遗存,这是世界上最早驯化水稻的历史,具有人类文明发展史上的“断代”意义;这也是迄今为止发现的世界水稻驯化史中最北地理维度的水稻发源地。在表层地球系统模型、数据-模型同化、碳同化系统和碳循环领域,研发了中国首个天空地双碳数字孪生模拟器、中国高时空分辨率碳同化系统(CT-China和3-GAS)以及高分辨嵌套式区域碳同化系统(RCAS),并实现了国家级准业务化运行以及省、市多尺度碳排放与碳汇的高精度核算应用。在全球、国家和地方碳核算、碳中和评价方面做出贡献,得到国际同行和相关国家政府的认可。
主持或作为骨干成员参加完成了加拿大NSERC、CFCAS、中国国家自然科学基金重点和面上项目、国家973、863、国家科技支撑重大项目、国家重点研发项目、中国科学院先导专项等20余项科研项目。在Nature communication等子刊、Science Bulletin、科学通报、地理学报等期刊发表论文200余篇,其中SCI 120多篇;独著专著1部、主持撰写专著1部、参编专著3部;第一完成人授权国家发明专利6项和软件著作权20余项。兼任《地理研究》、Forest、Water、Atmosphere等期刊编委和专刊主编。
(一)环境考古、古生态学方面:在上世纪90年发现了距今8000年前栽培水稻,这是中国也是世界上最早的驯化水稻历史,具有人类文明发展史上的“断代”意义。在上个世纪90年代,陈报章采用植硅石(phytolith)分析方法发现了我国亦是世界上当时最早、距今8000年前的河南省舞阳县贾湖稻作遗存。贾湖遗址(距今8942-7801年)位于黄河流域,这是迄今为止人类发现的世界上最早的栽培水稻遗存,而且位于北纬N33°37'以北,远远超出了现今野生稻种的分布范围,推翻了当时考古界公认的栽培水稻发源于长江流域的结论。陈报章进一步采用植物花粉和植硅石等气候代用指标,发现8000年前中原黄河流域的气候比现在湿润温暖,气温比现在要高出1-2℃,进而合理解释了为什么世界水稻驯化发源地和最早的水稻文化中心出现在黄河流域中原地区的环境考古学机制。
(二)、表层地球系统模型、数据-模型同化、碳同化系统方面:
围绕遥感、生态建模、碳循环和应对气候变化主题,以现代土壤-植被-大气一体化理论为指导,积极开展基于遥感技术的陆面过程模型、碳循环模型的研发、模型耦合、多源-多尺度遥感数据同化、数据-模型融合和尺度转换等方面的研究,取得了一系列有影响的原创性成果,包括:(1)建成了多尺度-多源数据融合的自下而上的区域碳源/汇模型模拟系统,包括机理性生态水文模型、遥感反演模型和遥感驱动的碳机理模型各子系统;(2)构建自上而下的中国区域大气CO2源/汇反演模型和数据-模型同化系统即“中国碳示踪器”;(3)开发了卫星-地基CO2联合同化技术、集合卡尔曼滤波-4维变分混合同化高效算法、以及机理性过程模型-遥感反演模型-大气CO2同化模型耦合技术,研发了首个中国天空地数据融合双碳数字孪生模拟器,并实现了国家级准业务化运行以及省、市多尺度碳排放与碳汇的高精度核算应用。这些创新成果具有明显的原创性、突破性、引领性和巨大的推广应用价值,并得到了得到国内外同行专家的高度评价;成果研究水平位于该领域国际领跑行列;这些成果和技术可继续很好服务于碳达峰、碳中和行动有效性评价和决策制定的重大国家需求,可在应对全球气候变化的研究中继续发挥重要作用。总之,面向国家实现“双碳”目标的重大需求,围绕多源、多尺度碳排放/碳汇监测核算关键技术及示范应用的核心内容,取得了一系列原创成就。可以总结为以下5个方面:
1、原创性研发了中国首个高分辨CO2同化反演系统,即中国碳追踪器 (CarbonTraker-China, CAS)。这是继美国国家海洋与大气局(CarbonTracker-NOAA)和欧洲(CarbonTracker-Europe)之后的全球第三个完整的全球尺度嵌套式碳同化系统,引领建立了卫星遥感监测—地基观测联合同化的大气CO2碳源汇同化系统。
2、研发了高分辨、高效区域碳同化系统(RCAS),主要创新点为:(1)开发了集合卡尔曼滤波-4维变分混合同化高效算法,显著提高了同化效率,攻克了传统的集合或变分同化算法无法实现具有矩阵维数巨大特征的高分辨区域碳同化系统有效计算的瓶颈难题,实现了对高分辨区域同化系统(公里格网)CO2通量的高效同化反演;(2)采用 POD-4DVar 数据同化方法,实现了区域尺度CO2排放和 CO2浓度的同步同化;(3)利用生态系统碳通量观测数据、实时优化碳过程关键参数,实现自然碳通量和人为碳通量的同步同化;(4)将多源碳卫星柱浓度数据和地基观测CO2浓度数据与大气传输模式同化,构造多源卫星-地基联合区域碳同化系统,解决了地面高精度温室气体监测数据稀少的数据限制难题,提高了区域碳源汇的反演精度;(5)通过RCAS与CT-China嵌套耦合,并融合AI技术,研发了首个中国天空地双碳数字孪生模拟器,能够同化核算高分辨率(1-5km)自然碳通量和人为碳排放,并实现了国家级准业务化运行以及省、市多尺度碳排放与碳汇的高精度核算应用,推动了中国碳达峰碳中和评价、陆地生态系统碳循环以及全球变化研究的纵深发展。
3、研发了具有自主知识产权的成集成动态陆面过程模型(DLM),引入树冠簇团指数,将冠层划分为上层林冠的阳叶和阴叶和林下冠层的阳叶和阴叶四个水平,分别计算四个叶片水平的辐射平衡、阻抗、光合、感热和潜热通量;实现了从定量到系统集成的跨越以及数据-模型同化算法,在陆地表层关键过程分析与系统模拟研究中发挥了重要作用。
4、研建了温室气体通量和浓度足迹(Footprint)模型(SEAF: Simple Analytical Footprint model on Eulerian coordinates),
基于欧拉场理论开发了Footprint模型 SEAF,该模型在空间异质性分析与评估、尺度扩展和如何合理解释全球通量网观测资料等方面的研究中发挥了重要作用,该模拟方法被加拿大碳项目(CCP:Canadian Carbon Program)确定为加拿大通量网内各观测站的常规评估方法;成功把遥感信息驱动下的定网格大小的EASS陆面过程模型与用于加大拿国家天气预报的超大型变网格大小的区域气候模型(GEM)混合编码(C++和Fortran)耦合,解决了超大型模型耦合、调试、并行运算的难题。使用在线耦合模型研究碳、水和能量交换过程的尺度效应,提出了国家和大陆尺度上碳源汇研究中尺度扩展的新理论和新方法,发展了空间尺度转换的关键技术。基于Landsat TM/ETM+影像和通量塔观测数据研究尺度扩展技术,发展了一种基于通量塔Footprint分析和多源数据融合的碳通量尺度上推方法,成功实现了从生态系统尺度的通量塔观测数据(1-3km)到景观和区域范围的尺度扩展。该尺度扩展方法体系包括通量足迹模型、修正回归树模型等机器学习模型以及影像融合技术,其与其它尺度扩展方法相比,具有效率高、精度高和鲁棒性强的特征。在区域和景观尺度上,对比基于涡度相关观测的、基于Landsat和MODIS影像反演的和CarbonTraker同化反演的结果进行了独立对比与验证分析。主要成果发表在遥感GIS领域的顶级期刊《Remote Sensing of Environment》、农林气象领域顶级期刊《Agricultural and Forest Meteorology和《Remote Sensing》等期刊上。
5、研发了我国第一台多角度自动光谱监测系统
研发了我国第一台多角度自动光谱监测系统(AMSPEC II , Automated, Multiangular SPECtroradiometer system) ,获得一项发明专利:一种具有自动校正功能的地物光谱多角度连续观测系统。本发明通过加入参考白板自动伸缩模块,可以自动进行白板校正,解决了以手动方式进行校正而繁琐的问题;当太阳光强、天气条件较差时,观测系统能及时进行白板校正,保证数据可用性和数据质量。加入风道吹扫模块,可定期吹扫、清理参考白板。加入旋转云台,可以对角度实施高精度控制,实现地物光谱多角度观测。自动白板校正多角度地物光谱原位连续观测平台系统,可以实现连续时间的自动地物光谱观测、自动数据采集,观测数据可与涡度相关通量观测系统30min观测的数据频率匹配,为农业、森林等遥感观测、生态过程、尺度扩展等研究提供了重要的技术手段。多角度自动光谱监测系统应用于“黑河综合遥感联合试验 (HiWATER)”的研究中。该自动多角度光谱仪可以实现不间断获取高光谱观测数据,并可以根据研究需要,预设追踪不同卫星(如MODIS,LANDSAT等)的观测角度,实现星-地一体协同观测,为地表过程的尺度扩展研究提供了有效手段。在国际上,首次把改造的多角度自动光谱仪应用于农作物(张掖玉米地超级观测站)的研究中。在此基础上,设计了了ASD全光谱原位自动观测,并实现了360度旋转61米直径footprint区取样,这是世界上第一个自动原位全光谱自动光谱监测系统。
